Nancy Drew

My kids and I watched the new "Nancy Drew" movie tonight. It was very cute and lots of fun. However, it was nothing remotely like my long-admired mystery heroine.

My mom introduced me to Nancy Drew when I was in first grade and just getting into novels. I was hooked immediately! Nancy was smart, brave, and drove a blue convertible! She had two best friends... and a cute boy friend. She had wild adventures and always solved the mystery. Too fun.

When I couldn't find any more Nancy Drew books at my library, my Aunt Sue shipped me a whole box of her books! It was like a treasure chest. I read one after the other and then went back and read my favorites again. One of my very favorites is, "The Secret of the Golden Pavilion" which takes place in Honolulu. It's funny, because I'll be on Oahu in June and was thinking it would be fun to take a book with me that takes place in Hawaii. I think I've found my book!

This is so funny! I am watching the ABC family's Nancy Drew movie right now! Weird. Actually I have seen this movie befor because I think it was originally a Wonderful World of Disney movie a few years ago. Anyway, I love Nancy Drew, so thanks goes to you and mom for introducing them to me!

And thanks for shipping those books back to my mom so that I could enjoy them later, too! I can't remember which one is my favorite anymore. Guess I'll just have to re-read and see. I think my mom gave a bunch of them to a girl in her ward who just got into Nancy.
