Festival of Lights

In honor of Winter Solstice, my kids and I wanted to do something (you may remember we got up early and watched the sunrise on Summer Solstice on Oahu).

Unfortunately, our sky is under a constant blanket of clouds this week as we get doused with rain (which we desperately need - and at least it's not snow!)

So, without the sun, we decided to gather up all the candles in the house and light them all on the dining room table. We wanted to celebrate with light the fact that every day is getting longer now!

Happy Winter Solstice! Let there be light!

You are so cute. I never think to do fun things like that. Have a great time and I will celebrate having the days getting longer too. (even if it is snowing like crazy right now)
