A Bit of Earth

I get urban claustrophobic.

If I'm surrounded by concrete, asphalt, and metal too long I get claustrophobic. I have to go find a patch of green grass, a flower creeping up out of the dirt, something earthy and not human-made. Living in such an urbanized area drives me crazy. Too many buildings, too many freeways, too many cars. Where's my bit of earth? Or my acre?

On Saturday it was sunny and almost warm! (I'm cold if it's under 80 degrees.) So I left my condo behind and went to the park. I walked around and smelled the pine trees - it always conjures up memories of camping. After taking a good long walk, I set myself down on a park bench, facing the afternoon sun, and read my book. Bliss.

Today my new flowers were delivered. If I hadn't told you, my pretty English garden was trampled by mucky fence builders last month. You think they'd know that it was a bad idea to actually stand on a geranium. I was crushed to find my whole garden trodden upon. I called the company and gave them an earful. So, they kindly replaced my plants.

My daughter and I went out in the sun this afternoon and put more alyssum, cyclamen, nemesia, and geraniums in the garden. They even threw in a flat of primroses which we put in several pots. When it grows in a bit, I'll post a new picture.

Eden revived.
