Garden Therapy

When life feels totally overwhelming... go rip something out of the garden. Really, I recommend it. It's extremely therapeutic. That's what I just spent my day doing...

Here is a "before" picture. It's creepers gone wild! Not to mention the alyssum is past its prime.

Here is the "during" picture. This is FOUR garbage bags of plant materials later. And several hours. And some unique yoga gardening poses (Did you know there was such a thing? There is now.)

And here is the "after" picture!! When I wandered through the plant nursery today the color RED just called my name. You may remember, my garden has been PURPLE for the last couple of years, but I am now clearly in my RED phase.

So geraniums, cyclamen, more alyssum, and a little bit of dichondra (remember that, former tenants of the Alamos house?) round out the new look. I still need to add a new climber to the trellis and something drapey for the hanging boxes... but that will be therapy for another day.

And of course, one does one's best gardening with the help of lemon-lime Gatorade (right Dad?)

I even threw in some new herbs for the kitchen. Sweet basil and lemon thyme!

And what is the last step in Gardening Therapy? Taking your sweaty, sticky, dirty self and soaking in a bubble bath!

You certainly inherited your father's green thumb,,,maybe that comes from ingesting the green Gatorade? The garden looks great and LOVE that RED!

That is what I have been missing, the green Gatorade! Now I know how I will get my next spurt of gardening energy. Though, it might have to wait until after I have started school. Maybe Gatorade could help with that too.

When I need therapy I go chop wood. I have a massive wood pile and plenty of wood to chop, it's good times.

That looks like a lot of work tearing out all of that stuff. You did a beautiful job replanting. Very impressive.
